From security robots to 4k cameras with higher resolutions than ever before, a wide variety of technologies were showcased. A hot topic buzzing on the show floor was Internet of Things (IoT) and how to manage the massive influx of data coming from video cameras, sensor technologies, and data analytics.
One of the key requirements for IoT infrastructures to be a success is the unrestricted movement of data. Companies are analyzing traffic patterns, detecting criminal activity, flagging unusual behavior before it begins, and creating a lot of data while they’re at it.
In Quantum’s booth we showed how an intelligent multi-tier storage approach can handle multiple streams of video data in one simple-to-manage platform, enabling organizations to store copious amounts of data cost-effectively, without compromising its performance or accessibility. Read more in our Technical Whitepaper about how Intelligent Storage Enables Next Generation Surveillance & Security Infrastructure.
Having a platform to consolidate and manage content from multiple ingest points is crucial to capture maximum business value. It was fun for me to see how our surveillance storage applications complement IoT as it begins to proliferate in the security industry. While the backend of storage can be complicated, a tiered approach simplifies the data management process and saves budget dollars, allowing organizations to spend more on other surveillance tools.
As new technologies continue to transform and improve, by next year’s ISC West I am excited to see how Quantum’s intelligent storage solution will play a part of it all.
