This is one of those cases. Improving the efficiency of data reduction algorithms is a constant part of what we do, and what we will continue to do with our DXi® appliances.
Over the years, we’ve built on the variable-length deduplication algorithm that we patented years ago (and have licensed to several other companies in the space), and have found ways to tweak the algorithm to make it more effective at reducing data. Enhancements like filters for specific backup applications, adjusting block sizes and block pool management, and performance improvements have continued to make DXi a price-performance leader in the industry.
Most recently, we’ve dramatically improved the efficiency of our DXi appliance in Veeam environments by integrating with the Veeam Data Mover Service. Check out the Veeam knowledge base article for details.
By using the Veeam Data Mover Service to communicate between the Veeam proxy server and the DXi appliance, advanced Veeam features like synthetic full-backup creation and Instant VM Recovery now perform much faster on a DXi. In fact, DXi is the only inline deduplication appliance that takes advantage of this Veeam Data Mover Service, making it the most efficient way to reduce backup data for Veeam users.
It’s a wonder DXi isn’t more famous!
We’re showcasing this and more at VMworld 2017 in Booth 1201 next week in Las Vegas. If you’re interested, swing by our booth to learn more.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
