As we approach the close of the year, it’s natural to take a moment to reflect on the year’s events.  This year, there’s more than ever to appreciate.   Whether we consider product awards, new solution offerings, compelling new customer installations, or overall business growth, 2014 has arguably been one of the most exciting years in Quantum’s 30+ year history.  I want to highlight a few of these – and take a minute to thank you – our customers and partners – for a great year!  So let’s review….

In the product award category, we had a number of major wins this year.  In January, four Quantum products – DX6800, DXi V4000, Scalar i6000 and Lattus Object Storage – were recognized for innovation and value as finalists in the Storage Magazine Product of the Year competition.  This was a win for the whole Quantum portfolio.  Later in the year, at IBC, StorNext Pro Solutions with StorNext Connect won TVBEurope’s Best in Show award, reflecting the many benefits of this easy-to-deploy offering for today’s complex media workflow environments.   We want to thank all of you who voted for these great offerings.

At the same time, Quantum released a stream of new products and solutions designed to provide innovative value to our customers.  The new DXi6900 joined the family of deduplication appliances.  In combination with DXi-V and the DXi4700, DXi6900 customers can now leverage the power of the industry’s leading deduplication solutions in sizes from less than 1 TB to 510TB, offering capacity on demand by use of simple licensing keys.  Quantum also introduced a new extended online storage architecture for modern digital workflows in the StorNext Pro solution family, offering a range of price performance and capacity alternatives to meet the needs of customers from the small Apple XSAN workgroup to extremely large production and broadcast facilities.   In conjunction with our partners Adobe, Reach Engine and Telestream, Quantum also demonstrated the ability to manage live collaborative workflows in the cloud.  In the fall, Quantum added unique cloud technology to our portfolio through the acquisition of Symform, one of the largest global cloud service platforms for small office and home office customers.  Watch this space….as Quantum works to leverage Symform’s cloud and unique file sync-and-share technology for greater value in a broader range of Quantum product and service offerings in 2015.

Perhaps most exciting, however, is the breadth of successful deployments that our customers have shared – both privately and publicly – over the past year.  Quantum technology is powering fast growing data protection services in the cloud (e.g., at Hipskind Technology Solutions), supporting real time review of live multi-stream sports video with our partner Telestream, delivering new levels of performance and scalability with StorNext 5 at BBC Sport, MLB Network and UFC, and enabling new levels of cybersecurity and video surveillance with our certified partner FireEye.  StorNext Pro Solutions with Lattus are also enabling global e-tailers, sports giants and leaders in the digital media revolution to more easily monetize content.  There’s honestly no better feeling than knowing that our solutions are supporting your businesses – limiting risk, lowering cost and enabling your revenue expansion.

All of this helped Quantum deliver our best revenue growth quarter in three-and-a-half years in September – with our Scale-out Storage (StorNext  and Lattus) revenue growing nearly 60% year-over-year and our disk-based deduplication (DXi) revenue growing more than 10%.

So thank you.  Thank you to all of you who partnered with us, who worked with us and who told us what we did well – and how we could do things better.  We look forward to doing it all again – even better – next year.

Happy Holidays,

Janae Lee
