E very year CRN – the top industry outlet for all things channel – highlights its leading voices with its annual Channel Chiefs issue. CRN poses a number of questions to each luminary, and the result is an interesting mosaic that offers insights to the state of the industry.

This year Quantum has two Channel Chiefs being celebrated by CRN – Andy Brinck, VP of Channel Sales, Scale-out Storage; and Brad Painter, VP of Worldwide Disk Sales. Each offers CRN observations regarding top channel goals, a look back at last year’s accomplishments, and plans for attracting the next generation of solution providers. I like the way CRN also asks softer questions such as “What advice would you give to someone getting into the channel today?” and “Who inspires you and why?” to give execs a chance to show some of their personal side. They reveal juicy details like golf handicaps and favorite authors.

Andy Brinck (golf handicap: 20) highlights Quantum’s progress in the growing Video Surveillance market, noting that we hired industry experts to run the US Surveillance practice, and partnered with VAD Anixter to help bring the solutions together. We also expanded our Media and Entertainment VAR Council, evolved our channel programs, and a put a strong focus on technical development with channel. These strategic initiatives have helped Quantum continue to evolve in all aspects of our business and as a result we have seen an average of 50% growth over the past two years from our focus partners, while accelerating revenue across our entire channel.
