Today, we announced our brand new Xcellis® Scale-out NAS, the industry’s first workflow storage appliance to provide the management capabilities and robust features of enterprise scale-out NAS with the cost-effective scaling organizations need to address modern data growth.
You may have heard of “High Value Workloads,” but wondered what that actually means. Simply put, they are environments where the data is either being used for strategic decision making for the company on a consistent basis, or, as is often the case, data IS the product itself.
Artificial intelligence (AI)—the term might conjure up futuristic images of mainframe computers operating space stations or human-like robots defeating chess champions. But we don’t have to wait for the future to experience the power of AI. In fact, AI technologies available today are already helping organizations, in a wide range of fields, to analyze huge volumes of data, solve complex problems, and seize new business opportunities.
Recently, Quantum has had some success displacing Oracle tape libraries with Quantum Scalar® tape libraries. Quantum’s focus on tape and continued investment in storage technologies—like our new Scalar i3 and Scalar i6 tape libraries with the best storage density, and the introduction of LTO-8 this quarter—have driven customers to switch and save costs.
Soon, you may run into Apple’s Siri or Amazon’s Alexa (or an equivalent, unnamed intelligent personal assistant technology) at your local hospital. At least, the thought is not beyond the realm of possibility, especially for those who are working to bring artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions to the healthcare industry.
The cloud era is here. Across many industries, organizations are eagerly implementing private cloud environments and signing up for public cloud services to take advantage of the agility, flexibility, scalability, and cost-saving benefits that this technology can deliver.
The SMPTE 2017 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition was held October 23–26 in Hollywood, California, providing an ideal opportunity to showcase the latest Quantum solutions for professionals in the film and television post-production industry. New compression formats, 4K mastering, more complex workflows, growing content libraries—these were some of the many subjects discussed over the course of the event. An end-to-end workflow featuring StorNext® 6 shared storage and data management software plus Xcellis® high-performance storage appliances addresses each of these challenges.
Quantum is leading the industry in making LTO-8 tape drives and media available in the Scalar® library portfolio. It’s easy
Reese Clark and Michael Le meet with Quantum’s Eric Bassier to discuss Commvault Go and SureStaQ.
StorNext 6 is the latest generation of Quantum’s shared storage and data management solution. It’s loaded with exciting new features, so I thought we’d pick off a few of them one at a time to explain how beneficial they can be to your media workflow. Our first deep dive is on FlexTier®, a technology that extends StorNext access to public and private clouds. Besides having a cool name, I wanted to hear exactly why it is a “must have” for content creators. Logically, I went to Greg Holick, our director of cloud storage solutions at Quantum and our resident FlexTier expert. Below are excerpts of our discussion about FlexTier and why it’s a real game-changer.
